• Resignation of a board member of Refuge for Renewal, a nascent homelessness nonprofit backed by Monty Bennett, following my reporting on Bennett's efforts to criminalize homelessness
• Firing of a Dallas-area man from a major corporate bank and the opening of an official investigation into a Navy contractor, both spurred by my reporting that identified them as the operators of popular neo-Nazi social media accounts

• Unmasking of purported activist groups as creations of a company called Crowds on Demand at the behest of political donor and Dallas Express publisher Monty Bennett
• Revealing coordinated partisan efforts across nonpartisan school board elections, spurring a state representative to call for campaign finance reform 

• Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award, Small Newsroom Category: The Texas Observer and Bellingcat were recognized for an open-source extremist-identification project, citing my reporting and collaboration with Tristan Lee
• Webby People's Voice Winner for News & Politics Podcast, Limited-Series & Specials: It Could Happen Here, an iHeartRadio podcast, received the most public votes for this category, which included my Anti-Vax America five-part series
